A 19-year-old Calgary man is facing charges in connection to a drug store robbery earlier this month.

Police say on Tuesday, March 4, around 4:30 p.m., a man entered the Calgary Drug Mart on Richard Road SW and demanded prescription drugs while threatening an employee with a knife.

He left the store with an unknown amount of prescription drugs and fled from the parking lot in a grey Dodge Durango.

Officers were able to identify a suspect following an investigation by the Robbery Unit.

Police eventually executed a search warrant on the SUV and at a house on 32A Avenue SE, where they found two knives and clothing believed to be worn during the robbery.

Marbub Purbub is now facing charges of robbery, possession of a weapon, unlawful confinement, intimidation, and theft under $5,000.

He is scheduled to appear in court next month.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
