Retired Lethbridge physiotherapist charged with sexual assault

A retired physiotherapist is facing charges of sexual assault by police in a southern Albertan city.

Lethbridge police say in late 2024, officers responded to reports of a historic sexual assault during physiotherapy treatment sessions at Chinook Regional Hospital.

Officers say a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted twice during physical therapy sessions between November 2021 and January 2022.

Kin Wai Godfrey Kwan, 61, is facing two counts each of sexual assault of a person under 16 and sexual interference.

Kwan has been released from custody and is expected to appear in court on April 16.

Officers say the investigation is ongoing, and are not releasing more details at this time.

Police believe more victims might be out there, and have released a photo of Kwan to encourage them to come forward.

Lethbridge police ask anyone who thinks they might be a victim to call them at 403-328-4444 and reference file 24018750.
