‘Discriminatory slurs’ spray painted on NDP election signs in Alberta: RCMP

Mounties north of Calgary are looking for suspects after getting reports of federal election signs being damaged.

Sundre RCMP say they received multiple reports between Wednesday and Friday this week of NDP federal election signs being spray painted.

The signs were spray painted with “discriminatory slurs,” according to police.

“Damaging or stealing a candidate election sign is a criminal offence,” reads a release from RCMP. “Additionally, hate or biased motivated crimes could result in higher penalties during sentencing.”

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Sundre RCMP at 403-638-3655, or submit tips to CrimeStoppers anonymously.
