‘I’m trying to process’: Calgary Bishop remembers Pope Francis

    UP NEXT:

Starting the week of April 22nd… the City of Calgary is updating its waste collection schedules, with many households seeing changes to their blue, black, and green cart pickup days.

Bins and collection routes in Calgary will be changing next week, the city says.

The City of Calgary says waste collection routes will be adjusted starting Tuesday, April 22.

This is in response to the growth in the number of bins that need to be collected as the city grows and to reintroduce weekly green cart collection for the spring and summer months.

Waste diversion specialist, Natalia Gonzalez, says the city is asking residents to check their schedule online to see if their collection day or week is changing, and to find out when their weekly green cart pickup will return.

“For example, a collection day may move from Wednesday to Thursday or may shift to the opposite week,” she said.

When it comes to green carts, residents are reminded to fill their green cart first before using paper yard and waste bags. When using paper and waste bags, residents should roll the tops closed and place the bags at least two feet to the side of the green cart.

Bags should also be light enough to live with one hand.

More information can be found at calgary.ca/cartschedule or through the My Garbage Day App, where residents can search their collection schedule via their address and set up free reminders via email, phone, or app notifications.
