There seems to be no way of escaping Trump, Tariffs and Election unless you were at the Parade of Wonders.  Phoenix Phillips reports.

The Calgary Comics and Entertainment Expo kicked off Friday with the downtown Parade of Wonders.

Attendees dressed in all forms of cosplay and paraded through the streets with famous pup and “paw-rade” marshal, Peggy the dog, best known for her role as Dogpool in “Deadpool and Wolverine.”

The parade started at 10:30 a.m. and followed a new route.

Kickoff was at Victoria Park’s Haultain Park, went past the Fan Zone along 13 Avenue and 1 Street SW, and then traveled south on Centre Street, before it headed east along 17 Avenue SW.

The parade finished with the Calgary Expo’s opening ceremonies at the BMO Centre’s Grand Staircase on Stampede Park.

Fan Expo vice president, Andrew Moyes, says the parade has become a favourite event of the weekend.

“This is the only event that has a parade, and I think it’s really worked its way into people’s hearts because it does show this signature event coming right through the city,” he said. “It’s also available to everyone, so you can go down there and get a taste of the wonderful weekend that everyone’s going to have.”

The 18th annual expo runs at the BMO Centre through Sunday.
