It started when calls came in from a motorist driving on Highway 1 between Exit 86 and 89, who found a body in the middle of the highway at around 12:30 a.m. on May 11.

The victim was identified as a 24-year-old man from Canmore.

RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney says investigators don’t believe this was an intentional incident.

“We don’t believe that this was an intentional hit-and-run. We feel that somebody may have hit this male and are unaware that they actually did it,” she said.
