A young man who fell out of a moving vehicle in northwest Calgary last week has died of his injuries.
Police say the single-vehicle incident happened around 11:25 p.m. on westbound Country Hills Boulevard at Beddington Trail NW on June 11.
Investigators believe a white 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 21-year-old woman, was traveling west on Country Hills Boulevard NW when one of the passengers, a 21-year-old man, climbed out of the front passenger window and tried to access a motorcycle in the cargo box of the truck while it was moving.
The man fell from the vehicle and was critically injured, police say. He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.
In an update on Tuesday, police say the man died from his injuries.
The driver and the other occupants of the Chevrolet weren’t hurt and remained at the scene.
Police have said neither excessive speeds nor drugs are considered to be factors in the incident.
Alcohol was being investigated as a fact only on the part of the injured passenger, according to investigators. The driver isn’t believed to have been impaired.
