Meet Ebony
How long have you been with the city?
I’ve been with Animal Services since May, and since I arrived, I’ve made it my mission to keep the staff (aka my coworkers) on their toes! Whether it’s zoomies in the yard or sneak attacks with my squeaky toy, I’m always bringing the energy.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m just over a year old, which basically means I’m still a puppy in spirit and energy. I weigh just under 55 pounds—perfect size, if you ask me! I’m a high-energy gal who lives for playtime, especially wrestling matches with my bestie, Topaz.
What are your typical daily tasks?
First order of business? Morning patrol! I dash outside to sniff the daily “pee-mails” and check for updates from the neighbourhood squirrels. Then it’s time for my shift: playing, walking, keeping the mood high-energy, and testing the durability of every toy in sight (spoiler alert: they don’t last long). Treats are my coffee—pure motivation—and a good old bully stick is my favourite indulgence.
What are your interests and hobbies?
Exploring the great outdoors, investigating every smell like a furry detective, splash time in the pool, and wiggling along the fence to anyone who will give me attention. I’m working on my manners—I sometimes jump and mouth when I get excited—but I’m super smart and just need consistent training and patience.
Also: shredding toys? Heaven. Chewing on a bully stick while sunbathing? Bliss.
What are you looking for in a home?
I’m looking for an experienced, adult-only home that understands energetic dogs like me. I need a securely fenced yard for zoomies and daily walks to burn off my puppy-like energy. I’d love a rough-and-tumble playmate to wrestle with—but no small animals, please.
Men can make me nervous, so I’ll need slow introductions and someone patient enough to help me build trust. I might bark when I’m scared, but with love and guidance, I know I can blossom into the best version of myself.
