$500K in construction equipment recovered from Rocky View County property

Charges have been laid against a man in Rocky View County after around half-a-million-dollars worth of stolen construction equipment was uncovered from a rural property.

Southern Alberta RCMP and the Calgary Police Service have seized hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen construction equipment in Rocky View County.

A search warrant was executed at a rural property on Range Road 281 on Monday by officers following an investigation into the theft of construction equipment.

Recovered items included: an ASV RT-40 Skid Loader, a BMW M4, a Bobcat 463 Skidsteer, a Bobcat S70 Skidsteer, a Bobcat S590 Skidsteer, a John Deere 35D Excavator, a Ditchwitch, a Rainbow 7718M Flat deck trailer, and a Tandem Axel flat deck trailer.

Police say the stolen property was recovered from thefts reported in Calgary, Airdrie, Okotoks, Chestermere, and Strathmore.

The value of the equipment is approximately $500,000.

Fifty-five-year-old Shailend Sharma of Rocky View County, has been charged with nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and four counts of tampering with a vehicle identification number.

Sharma is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 21.
