Calgary police say three people are in custody in connection with a stabbing that sent a man to hospital in northeast Marlborough Sunday.

Officers say they responded to reports of a serious injury incident at 5000 Marbank Drive NE at around 7 a.m.

Upon arrival, witnesses on scene say they found a man with serious injuries and called police.

Officers then followed a trail of blood to 4300 Marbank Drive, where the victim was found with stab wounds.

He was then taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but his status has been upgraded to stable.

Investigators say the victim walked several blocks looking for help, and witnesses reported thinking he was struck by a car or shot before police determined he was stabbed repeatedly.

They believe the incident is not random.

No suspects have been identified except for the three in custody for questioning. No charges have been laid.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
