A Calgary woman who was hit by a vehicle in the city’s southwest last week has died as a result of her injuries, police say.

The incident happened at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21 in the community of Southwood.

Investigators say a 2014 Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 30-year-old woman, was driving south on Macleod Trail SE near the intersection of 99 Avenue SW.

At the same time, a woman in her 30s was crossing Macleod Trail westbound south of the 99 Avenue SW intersection, outside the marked crosswalk.

The vehicle drove into the intersection on a green light and hit the pedestrian.

She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.

The driver and her 60-year-old passenger weren’t hurt and stayed at the scene.

Speed and impairment aren’t thought to be factors in this collision.

So far this year, there have been more than 400 collisions resulting in injuries to pedestrians.

This latest fatality brings the total number of pedestrian deaths in Calgary to 14.
