Calgary firefighters tackle blaze inside building on 17 Avenue SW

Calgary firefighters tackled an early morning blaze on 17 Avenue and 1 Street southwest Tuesday, responding to a building in the area.

Crews arrived at the 100 block of 17 Avenue at around midnight, spending a couple of hours on scene to knock down the flames.

Police closed down a few surrounding streets in the meantime, which reopened at around 2 a.m.

There is no word on the extent of the damage.

660 NewsRadio reached out to both the fire department and EMS for more details.

So far, no word back from the firefighters, but EMS says there were no reported injuries, and they weren’t required on scene for long.
