Family targeted in months‑long harassment campaign; Calgary man arrested

A Calgary man has been arrested following what Mounties describe as a prolonged and escalating campaign of harassment, intimidation, and threats directed at an Okotoks family over the course of nearly a year.

Police began investigating in August 2025, when RCMP were called to the Crystal Shores area after a family discovered the tires on their vehicle had been slashed.

In the months that followed, the same family, three victims in total, saw four separate vehicles targeted in similar fashion.

Investigators say the harassment did not stop there. The suspect allegedly used multiple fake social media accounts to taunt and intimidate the victims, issuing repeated death threats beginning as early as February 2025.

The RCMP obtained court orders to identify the individual behind the accounts, which eventually led them to a Calgary resident.

In December 2025, Calgary Police Service (CPS) launched its own investigation after another victim reported receiving death threats from the same online accounts. That victim also reported ongoing digital harassment.

The joint operation between RCMP and CPS culminated on Jan. 14 when officers arrested 27‑year‑old Imran Yusuf of Calgary.

Yusuf faces multiple charges, including four counts of uttering threats to cause injury or death, one count of threatening to harm an animal, four counts of criminal harassment, mischief over $5,000, use of a disguise with intent, and besetting on a dwelling.

The accused will appear in a Calgary courtroom on Jan. 20.
