Alleged drug house in NW Calgary shut down after months of complaints

After months of mounting frustration from neighbours, Alberta Sheriffs have shut down a suspected drug house in northwest Calgary.

The property, located on Brentwood Boulevard NW, as been ordered to be vacated as of noon Tuesday.

Calgary police received more than two dozen complaints about suspected drug activity, including reports of frequent short visits, discarded needles, and visible drug use around the home.

Investigators from the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit worked closely with a relative of the elderly homeowner. They determined that the owner was being financially exploited by individuals who were using the property.

Despite attempts by the family to clean up the situation, the alleged drug activity continued.

Sheriffs sought a court order to shut the house down, and a judge granted the request, requiring the property to be vacated immediately.

Conditions placed on the home will remain in effect for the next two years.
