A months‑long investigation into stolen property ended with officers finding more than $75,000 worth of boats, trailers and off‑road vehicles hidden at a rural residence, according to the RCMP.
Mounties in Cochrane began looking into the case in June 2025, following reports of stolen items believed to be circulating in the Springbank area west of Calgary.
The investigation led them to a rural property where officers suspected the goods were being stored.
On Feb. 12, officers executed a search warrant at the home and recovered a number of high‑value items, including two boats with trailers, a utility trailer, several ATVs, a Husqvarna ride‑on mower, a Bombardier Sea‑Doo and a Can‑Am BRP side‑by‑side.
The items had been reported stolen from communities across southern Alberta including Cochrane, Calgary, Rocky View County and Strathmore, and even one case originating in Ontario.
Investigators say they have contacted most of the rightful owners and are working to return the property.
Two residents of Rocky View County, 55-year-old Keith Mcvittie and 53-year-old Amanda Mcvittie, were arrested during the search and now face multiple charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, altering or removing a vehicle identification number, and possession of a weapon contrary to an Order.
Both remain in custody and were scheduled to appear in a Calgary courtroom on Tuesday.
