Stolen vehicles, risky driving lead to arrests after police chase across Calgary

Calgary police have charged two men and a woman with several offences after a dangerous driving stunt in the city’s NE.

A call about a suspicious vehicle in northeast Calgary led to a police chase across the city that ended with three people arrested and numerous charges laid.

Police were first called around 9:05 p.m. on Monday to Del Rio Place NE in the community of Monterey Park for reports of someone tampering with a grey Volkswagen Jetta.

Officers arrived to find two people inside the Jetta, which had been reported stolen earlier that day.

The driver sped away, allegedly running red lights and nearly causing several crashes. The HAWCS helicopter monitored the vehicle from above.

The Jetta was tracked travelling south on Centre Street North when a Ford F‑150 pulled alongside it. The two occupants got out of the Jetta and climbed into the truck.

Police secured the abandoned Jetta while HAWCS continued tracking the F‑150, which was also later confirmed to be stolen.

Officers used a tire deflation device, stopping the truck in the parking lot of the Real Canadian Superstore near 16 Avenue and 36 Street NE. Two men and a woman ran into the store, where officers located and arrested them.

Investigators searched both vehicles and seized two airsoft guns, 14.1 grams of methamphetamine, several bank cards and an ID card.

Police say Adrienne Visser, 29, faces charges including possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, dangerous driving, flight from police and multiple breaches. Matthew Grouette, 39, is charged with stolen property, dangerous driving and fleeing police. Lane Zimmer, 63, faces stolen property, weapons and breach‑related charges.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call police at 403‑266‑1234 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
