Driver fined after transport truck strikes rail underpass in downtown Calgary

Calgary police were called to a scene downtown Wednesday morning after a truck hit an overpass.

A driver is facing fines after a transport truck hit its roof on an underpass in downtown Calgary early Wednesday morning.

The collision occurred at the rail bridge underpass on 1 Street SW between 9 and 10 Avenue at around 7 a.m.

Calgary police say officers responded a short time later and confirm the bridge was not damaged. Images from the scene show the truck’s trailer roof damaged as a result of the impact.

The driver was issued a ticket, according to police, though they could not confirm the fine amount.

The truck has been cleared and there are no impacts to traffic in the area.
