Woman charged with killing babies

Police won’t say much about what led them to lay two second-degree murder charges against a woman already accused of dumping her newborn baby into a dumpster, last year.

Thirty-year-old Meredith Katherine Borowiec was charged last week with attempted murder, child abandonment and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Borowiec is said to be cooperating with police.

Staff Sgt Kelly Campbell with the Child Abuse Unit says they don’t believe they will recover the bodies of the other two infants, but police think they know when Borowiec gave birth to them.

“During the course of the investigation officers learned of the previous birth of two infants. One was born sometime in ’08 and the other in 2009,” says Campbell.

Police won’t say if the father of the infant rescued from a northwest dumpster in October of 2010 was also the father of the other two infants. It was the child’s father who found the discarded child, although he didn’t even know the baby was his.

Officers also are not able to release the sex of the previous babies or a cause of death.
