660 NEWS teams up with Project Warmth to collect clothing donations

No one should be cold this winter – that’s why 660 NEWS and PropertyGuys.com are teaming up for the month of January to collect donations for Project Warmth.

Demand is so high that Project Warmth has already donated between 70 and 90,000 pieces of clothing this season, which is how much it did all of last winter.

The program started 25 years ago and actually runs all year round, with every fire hall in the city acting as a collection point.

Jonathan Fesik, VP of Administration and Operations for Project Warmth, explains what kind of items can be donated.

“Sweaters and coats, mitts and hats for kids and young adults and older adults,” he said. “Even if it has a broken zipper, send it in, or a missing button, send it in because we replace the zippers or put the buttons on and we clean everything and then we distribute it.”

One of the best things about the program is that everything is donated free of charge to people who need it.

“We do not donate to any agency that sells things,” said Fesik. “Because it’s donated to us, it has to be donated to an agency and then they distribute it.”

Donations can be dropped off at PropertyGuys.com, located at 2640 24 Street SW or at the 660 NEWS studio in downtown Calgary at the corner of 7 Avenue and 5 Street.
