Justice Minister opposes new halfway house location

Alberta’s Justice Minister isn’t keen on a new proposed location for a Calgary halfway house.

Alison Redford is defending the concerns of people in Manchester in a letter to city council.

The neighbourhood is slated to be the new location of the John Howard Society’s Bedford House.

Alderman Brian Pincott tells the Calgary Herald he’s puzzled as to why Redford is getting involved, especially so late in the process.

The society’s application for the new site will go before council on Monday.
