Police seize illegal drugs and weapons after arresting speeding driver

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A man caught speeding in Calgary’s northwest got a lot more than just a ticket.

On Sept. 16, police pulled over a car that was speeding on John Laurie Blvd. near 14 St. NW.

When officers started walking towards the car, the driver drove away heading towards Centre Street and McKnight Blvd.

He eventually got out of his car and tried to escape on foot but was arrested by police.

Once officers searched his vehicle they discovered body armour, a stun gun, bear spray, machete and a pellet gun that looked like a Glock pistol.
They also found several thousand dollars in cash and illicit drugs.

The 18-year-old driver is now facing a long list of charges for possessing dangerous weapons and illegal drugs for trafficking.
