The Calgary Police Service (CPS) has released a photo of the victim who’s body was found in Deerfoot Athletic Park Thursday.
Officers are hoping the photo will help them find the criminal/criminals responsible for the death.
“We have released a photo of Judy from the night before her body was discovered, in hopes anyone who may have seen her, or had contact with her in the days leading up to her murder will come forward with information,” says Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the CPS Homicide Unit.
“Sometimes people might not realize how valuable even the smallest piece of information can be in helping us determine the events leading up to a homicide victim’s death.”

CPS has identified the body as 58-year-old Judy Maerz, and ruled the death a homicide, after an autopsy was completed Friday.
On Thursday, Officers say they received reports of a body in the park at 1616 8 Avenue NE around 10:35 a.m. when they found the victim.
Police say a “fire” was set in the park, and it may have been used to hide the evidence.
Police are asking anyone who has a dashcam footage and visited the park or who was driving northbound on Deerfoot Trail between Memorial Drive and 16 Avenue NE Thursday morning to contact them.
“So there may have been smoke, something that caught somebody’s attention,” said Gregson.
“We are currently interviewing friends and associates of Ms. Maerz in order to determine her recent activity. This investigation remains in the early stages and we are looking to speak with all potential witnesses.”
