Officials investigating after several vehicles catch fire in Fish Creek Park

An investigation is underway after multiple vehicles caught fire in Fish Creek Park in southeast Calgary on Thursday afternoon.

An investigation is underway after multiple vehicles caught fire in Fish Creek Park in southeast Calgary on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to a parking lot just east of Sikome Lake around 1:40 p.m. for reports of a fire.

Firefighters arrived to find two vehicles fully engulfed in flames, a third vehicle eventually caught fire and officials say a fourth was damaged due to the heat.

Crews were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to nearby grass and trees by using water and firefighting foam.

No injuries have been reported.

“Crews will remain on scene and are working with Fish Creek Park provincial staff to arrange for clean-up of the debris after the vehicles are removed,” reads a release from the Calgary Fire Department (CFD).

Officials are working to notify the owners of the vehicles.

There is no word on the cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
