Pedestrian struck by freight train in downtown Calgary

One person was rushed to hospital after being hit by a freight train in downtown Calgary on Thursday night.

Calgary police tell CityNews a person was struck near the rail crossing on 11 Street SW between 9 and 10 Avenue just after 6:30 p.m.

A male victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

The city said 11 Street SW was initially closed for the investigation, but the road reopened before 8 p.m.
