Suspect sought after string of bank robberies in NE Calgary

Calgary police are searching for a suspect linked to three bank robberies in the city's northeast on Monday afternoon.

Police are searching for a suspect after a string of bank robberies in northeast Calgary on Monday afternoon.

Calgary police (CPS) say officers were called to an RBC bank near Falconridge Blvd and Falconridge Drive NE around 12:30 p.m. for reports of a robbery.

It is alleged a suspect walked up to the teller, said he was armed and demanded money. He then walked around to the other side of the counter and took cash before leaving.

About 25 minutes later, the same suspect allegedly walked into an ATB location at Saddletowne Circle NE and again walked up to the teller, telling them he was armed and demanding money.

The suspect walked around to the other side of the counter in an attempt to grab money, but he was not successful and ended up leaving empty-handed.

Five minutes later, the same man allegedly went into a CIBC bank on Saddletowne Circle NE. He walked behind the counter and demanded money from the staff before leaving with cash.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents and police say no witnesses actually saw a weapon.

Police are looking for a suspect described as around 20 to 30 years old, between 5’10” and 6’1″ tall, with a fair complexion. He was last seen wearing black gloves, black pants and a dark-grey hoodie — his face was covered during each of the robberies.

Anyone with information is being urged to call police at 403-266-1234, or submit tips to CrimeStoppers anonymously.
