Woman in 20s fatally shot at SW Calgary condo building identified; information sought

A young woman is dead, and police are looking for suspects and information on a white Toyota after a shooting at a condo building in southwest Calgary on Saturday.

Emergency crews were called to the building at 8710 Horton Road SW around 4:30 p.m. for reports of gunshots in the parking garage.

Upon arrival, Calgary police say officers found a woman in the garage with gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders performed lifesaving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers identified the victim, 23-year-old Madisson Cobb, adding that an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted. No one was taken into custody, and no suspect information has been made available.

However, they said Sunday that a white Toyota RAV4 with a B.C. license plate PP322J was captured on CCTV leaving the scene. Police believe it was parked on the fourth level of the garage before the shooting, and is connected.

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.

While officers thanked the public for helping CPS, they are asking for further information about the victim, including if they:

• Had contact with her before her death, or had any knowledge or information regarding the shooting
• Have dashcam footage of Horton Road SW at Heritage Drive, heading westbound towards 14 Street SW, between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on July 19
• Saw the vehicle of interest in the parking garage before the shooting
• Have footage from the fourth level of the parking garage in the 8700 block of Horton Road SW between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on July 19

An update from police is expected at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
