Memoir of Medicine Hat killer

A close friend of the girl who killed her parents in Medicine Hat is now writing a book about the murders.

And Naiwa Northey isn’t mincing her words. In an inside story, she says her one-time best friend turned killer should probably “stay in custody forever.”

Northey tells the Calgary Sun she doesn’t think the girl has a future outside of jail and that she’s too far gone.

She says her 12-year-old friend went from being from funny and outgoing to moody and distant.

Northey last saw her on a school bus, just days before police surrounded the girl’s home.

She is now serving a 10 year sentence in a forensic psychiatric hospital. Her boyfriend, Jeremy Steinke, was also charged in the murders and is serving a life sentence.
