His empire seemingly collapsed in August when his company went into receivership, but now a Calgary chocolatier is setting up shop once again.
Bernard Callebaut, lost a bid to regain control of Chocolates by Bernard Callebaut in October, so he went back to the drawing board.
He’s now ready to sell his famous Belgian chocolates under a different name just in time for Christmas.
Some Calgarians on Kensington Road say they’re glad to hear the news and plan to follow the well-known chocolatier to his new business.
“I’d probably go to his new shop. He’s got a proven reputation and good quality,” says one man.
Another tells 660News “I believe Bernard Callebaut deserves to use his name and he makes great chocolate – I’d go to his new one.”
While this woman adds, “I don’t know the reasons he went into receivership, how the funds were so grotesquely mismanaged. Regardless of such, I would go to the authentic Bernard Callebaut.”
Other people say they’ll stick with the Bernard Callebaut chocolates they know at the locations that still bear his name, but are now being run by one of his former employees.
Callebaut will unveil the name of his new company and details of the operation December 8.
