Girl dies in rollover collision

One person is dead and one injured after a single vehicle collision on Springbank Road, east of Hwy 22 just after midnight Saturday.

Cochrane RCMP say the car was heading eastbound on Springbank Road, lost control and rolled numerous times before coming to rest in the south ditch.

The passenger, an 18-year-old girl from Saskatchewan, was pronounced dead on the scene and the 17-year-old male driver from Calgary was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol and speed appear to be a factor and charges are pending against the driver.
