This article is more than 5 years old.
It’s been more than two weeks since the untimely death of slain six-year-old Meika Jordan, and her mother still has more questions than answers.
Meika was rushed to hospital in the early morning hours of November 14th from a reported fall down the stairs at her father’s home in the northeast community of Temple.
She later died from her injuries which police are calling blunt force trauma.
Her death is being considered a homicide and police say her father and step-mother are some-what cooperating with the investigation.
Meika’s biological mother Kyla and her partner Brian were just days away from assuming full-custody of the child.
Brian tells the Calgary Herald, he wants to know what Meika could have done to justify ending her life.
The couple describe Meika as a kind-hearted, amazing soul who was wise beyond her years.
Her step-father says she would escape a difficult situation with laughter and happiness.
The six year old’s kindness also extended beyond her words as he recalled Meika coming home many times starving from school.
They later realized she was giving away her food to those students without a lunch.
Her mother would end up having to pack extra items in her lunchbox on a daily basis.
A trust fund for her siblings has been set up at TD branch locations around the city under the name “Brian Woodhouse” account number 78986570242.
