New ‘Corbeaux Bakehouse’ to replace Melrose Cafe & Bar on Red Mile

Speculation is over about what will take over the landmark Melrose Bar on 17th Avenue Southwest.
The Calgary brothers behind Fratello coffee roasters and Analog Cafes, Chris and Russ Prefontaine announced Friday, their newest venture will open this September in the former restaurant and patio space.
They say the Corbeaux Bakehouse will offer exceptional breads, world-class pastries and a rotating menu inspired by fine ingredients.
The culinary team will be led by award winning U.S. Chef Keith Luce,who will be moving to Canada with his family to be part of Calgary’s culinary community.
Luce was recognized by Food & Wine Magazine as Best Chef and was also appointed to the United States Culinary Diplomatic Corps.
The redesigned completely space will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Melrose Cafe and Bar suddenly closed its doors in mid-January after 23 years.
