A Calgary woman who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of her baby is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday.
Shelby Herchak’s 26-day-old son Daniel died in August 2010 after being rushed to hospital with a fractured skull and brain trauma.
Herchak was 18-years-old at the time of her son’s death.
During a sentencing hearing in April, she tearfully apologized to her parents for taking away their grandson.
The crown is seeking an eight year sentence while the defense is seeking five years in jail.
Herchak is expected to learn her fate at 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
