SALT LAKE CITY – “Modern Family” actor Ty Burrell says gay marriage in the United States is a “tide that can’t be turned.”
Burrell headlined a fundraiser in Salt Lake City on Thursday evening to help cover legal costs for couples fighting Utah’s ban on same-sex marriage.
He lent his celebrity to help a group backed by co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Ferguson plays one half of the ABC hit’s gay couple and founded Tie The Knot with his real-life husband, Justin Mikita, in 2012.
Ferguson says he and Mikita aren’t the type of guys who will be going out with bullhorns to support equality. He says, instead, they’re doing it through humour and fashion.
Bartenders at the event served guests Moscow mules, a signature cocktail at Burrell’s Salt Lake City speakeasy-style bar called Bar X.
