RCMP call off search after body found in Wabamun Lake

After a nine-day search effort, the body of a 30-year-old man, who was last seen in Wabamun Lake, has been found.

In a release Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and Enoch RCMP said they located the body at around 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The man was reported missing on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 15th.

According to reports, he and another man were thrown into the lake after their boat was hit by a strong wave.

One man was able to swim to safety, while search and rescue teams went to work looking for the other.

An autopsy will be performed on Friday to determine the cause of death.

The name of the man has not yet been released.
