Best Restaurants for Group Dining for 2015

By

  1. Catch Restaurant and Oyster Bar – With its more casual oyster bar downstairs and refined dining upstairs, Catch suits a lot of group situations from a lunch hour group meeting to beers, fish and chips and chilled seafood towers with friends downstairs. Couple that with the free 3 hour underground parking just a couple blocks away that The Core offers after 4 p.m. during the week and on weekends and you have no reason not to head downtown for a bite.

  1. Ki Modern Japanese – Perhaps not the best place to bring anyone younger than a tween, Ki does a great job of accommodating groups and special requests. The menu is primarily Japanese, but with a lot of meaty options, you’ll be able to find something here for meat and potato types as well as the more adventurous eaters in your life!

  1. Wurst – Aside from Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, the upstairs dining area of Wurst is surprisingly family-friendly. They’ve got a large, varied menu and a great weekend brunch. If you’re sans-family with coworkers or friends, then reserving a large plank table in the downstairs beer hall is always a fun time!

  1. Briggs – Just outside of the downtown core, Briggs has a large dining room that fits groups of all shapes and sizes. The menu has enough options that people can opt to share some small plates in one corner of your table while others stick to the solo approach with plates of roast chicken, beef and more. The well-made cocktails here ring at $9 too, which is one hell of a deal for Calgary.

  1. Cibo – It’s hard to find a place in Calgary that’s better suited to a group dining experience than Cibo. It’s two level space offers a lot of different environments from the communal table in the front bar area to the upstairs that can be a bit more private if needed. The Italian menu is a large one, encompassing everything from (delicious) pizzas and pastas, rotisserie meats, even a kids menu and so much more.
