A couple of councillors are hoping to dab-out taxes for bingo halls in Calgary.
Councillors Gian-Carlo Carra and Andre Chabot are submitting a notice of motion Monday calling for the change.
The motion points out the three bingo halls in the city are run by not-for-profit organizations and raise money for over 100 charitable organizations.
It calls for the city to cancel the municipal portion of the taxes for the bingo halls starting this year, as long as the owners of the buildings promise to pass the savings onto the bingo operators.
