Woman sexually assaulted by stranger after getting off bus in SE Calgary

Calgary police say a woman was sexually assaulted by a man who rode on the same bus as her.

The woman got on the Route #42 bus at the Marlborough LRT Station on Thursday afternoon, and so did a man who did not speak to her.

Both got off at the intersection of 8 Avenue and 58 Street S.E., and the man started following her.

He cornered her in the 700 block of 58 Street S.E., forced her against a fence, and began to sexually assault her.

The woman screamed and scratched the man’s face, causing him to run away.

The suspect is described as Indigenous, in his late 20s, between 5’9 and 6′ tall. He was wearing a grey sweater, blue jeans, a backwards red baseball cap and silver rimmed glasses.

Police are working with Calgary Transit to try to find him.
