Campers frustrated after trouble with online reservations

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Online reservations at Canada’s national parks is leading to some unhappy campers.

On Wednesday, Parks Canada opened online reservations for several parks, including Banff and Jasper.

Before the afternoon was done, 20,000 sites were reportedly booked, smashing last year’s record of 18,000.

However, things didn’t run so smoothly with the reservations as potential campers complained the website was slow and crashed many times.

Many said they waited two hours or more just to complete their reservation.

More bookings are set to open Thursday morning including those for Wood Buffalo, Waterton and Elk Island.

Online reservations for camping in Alberta Parks has not opened yet.
