KANANASKIS (660 NEWS) – If you plan on hiking the trails of Kananaskis, be wary of leaving valuables in your vehicle.
A string of break-ins at hiking trail parking lots this month has Canmore RCMP investigating who is the cause of all the damage.
Cpl. Ron Bumbry with the RCMP said four vehicles were broken into just last Friday.
“On July 24, 2020, members from our Canmore RCMP detachment responded to several calls regarding break-ins to parked vehicles in the Heart Creek parking lot area.”
Similar break-ins happened earlier this month at the Mount Yamnuska parking lot, with all incidents happening during the day.
Bumbry is encouraging visitors to these trails to be vigilant and careful.
“If you’re parking in these areas, please ensure your vehicles are locked and no valuables are left inside as the incidents reported did happen during daylight hours. Various suspects, we believe, have broken vehicle windows to gain entry in some of these cases.”
Anyone with information on these vehicle break-ins is asked to call Canmore RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
