CALGARY (660 NEWS) – More than $145,000 of cocaine has been seized after officers searched a property in Rocky View County.
Members of Alberta’s Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), with help from Calgary police and Airdrie RCMP, searched the house on Nov. 18, in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.
“Drug trafficking offences are magnified in rural communities and, more often than not, produce a number of ancillary offences related to addiction, such as property crimes and theft,” said S/Sgt. Jeff Ringelberg with ALERT Calgary.
Officers collected nearly 1,500 grams of cocaine along with bags containing unknown white and pink powders, meth, ammunition and cash.
The unknown powders are being sent to Health Canada labs to identify them.
A 40-year-old man was arrested in Crossfield and charged with drug possession and trafficking.
ALERT is asking anyone who may suspect drug activity in their neighbourhood to call police or their local Crime Stoppers.
