Body pulled from Bow River on Thursday afternoon

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — One person is dead after going into the Bow River Thursday afternoon.

Calgary police say at around 2 p.m., they were called to the area of Ogden Rd. and 42 Ave. S.E. for a check on welfare.

Upon arrival, they found a parked vehicle close to the river with footprints leading towards the water. A dog was also discovered wandering on the ice of the river, and was brought to safety without injuries.

Emergency crews then searched the river for the person, and eventually pulled it from the water downstream near Carburn Park.

At this time, there are no further details and the Medical Examiner is investigating.
