Calgary’s weather man, David Spence, announces retirement

CALGARY – One of the most well-known names in local broadcasting is calling it a career.

David Spence, who has spent decades as the chief meteorologist at CTV News Calgary, has announced he is retiring in the fall.

The 61-year-old also spent several years giving weather updates on 660 NEWS and was here when the station launched in 2006.

Spence says his decision comes after a lot of thought and reflection on a successful and fun career.

He also says recovering from prostate cancer made him realize he wants to enjoy good health in retirement for as long as possible.
