Police locate, charge man believed responsible for random stabbing

CALGARY — Calgary police have charged a man after the random stabbing of a woman downtown last week.

Officers across the police service were able to work collaboratively this past weekend to find the man responsible.

After a bulletin was posted with the suspect’s photo, an officer believed he recognized who he may be. This helped police figure out where the suspect may live.

On July 11, police executed a search warrant on a home along 12 Avenue S.E. and the suspect was placed under arrest.

Ethan Daryl Lawless, 19, has been charged with aggravated assault.

Lawless is due to appear in court on Wednesday.
