Calgary missing persons case closed after remains ID’d in B.C.

CALGARY – Calgary police have closed a missing persons case from 2019 after someone recognized his picture.

Patrick Vice was reported missing in December 2019. He was last seen in the early morning hours walking downtown.

Police say he had been acting strangely before his disappearance and his family said he had “presented indications of distress”.

Despite the best efforts of CPS, Vice was never located.

However, last month, someone from Kelowna recognized similarities between Vice’s missing persons profile on the Canada-wide database and features of an unidentified person.

The John Doe’s remains were found in Vancouver a couple of days after Vice went missing.

Police say the B.C.’s Coroners Service reviewed the tip and determined that the unidentified remains were that of Vice through DNA testing.
