Few tickets issued over new residential speed limit

Since the residential speed limit bylaw came into effect at the end of May, Calgary police say only a handful of tickets have been issued to people speeding in neighbourhoods.

Earlier this year, the unposted speed limit was lowered from 50 kilometers an hour to 40 and since then CPS has only issued 13 tickets.

The change affected the speed limit on both residential and collector roads in Calgary communities.

Speed limits on higher classification roads such as Deerfoot Trail and Memorial Drive were not adjusted, nor were playground zones.
