A popular game amongst Canadian high school students prompted a call that sent an Alberta high school into lockdown on Friday.

RCMP say officers were called to Strathmore High School east of Calgary just before noon for reports of someone with a gun.

Mounties arrived and quickly took a suspect into custody.

The investigation revealed the suspect was carrying a water gun and was participating in the “senior assassin” game. The objective of the game is for participating students to “assassinate” a target, a fellow participating student, by squirting them with a water gun within a given time period.

“Although an innocent game, RCMP is reminding those partaking, please be mindful that someone witnessing this or driving by could perceive a water gun to be a real firearm,” reads a release from RCMP.

Calgary police were out with a warning last week asking parents to ensure their kids are not taking anything that looks remotely like a real gun to school.
