One dead in Calgary Friday shooting; third suspicious death in 2 days, say police

A man is dead after a shooting Friday evening in Crescent Heights.

Calgary police are investigating what they say is the third suspicious death in the past two days.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, two people were leaving a Jerusalem Shawarma restaurant and once they got in their vehicle unknown suspects fired multiple gunshots into the vehicle.

The driver fled the scene and called 9-1-1 on the way to the hospital after the passenger suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency crews met them at 16 Avenue and Deerfoot Trail where the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they don’t know if the incident is related to another shooting earlier on Friday afternoon or another suspicious death on Thursday.
