Woman in her 20s killed in northeast Calgary crash

A woman in her 20s is dead after she was hit by a vehicle early Thursday morning in northeast Calgary.

Police say it happened along 4 Street NE, between the two entrances to Huntstrom Drive NE in the community of Huntington Hills just before 2 a.m.

Officers say the woman appeared to be skateboarding in the area with a man when she was hit, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was not injured.

Police say a man in his 20s was driving the car that hit the woman and he had a passenger with him. The driver and the passenger were not injured in the crash.

Several roads were closed for hours in the area for the investigation, and have since reopened.

Officers add they believe speed and alcohol are factors in the crash.
