An alleged road rage incident on an Alberta highway resulted in a child under the age of five getting ejected from a vehicle Saturday afternoon.
Police say the child suffered life-threatening injuries. They were taken to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance.
Two adults and two other children were also seriously injured. They were taken by ground ambulance to hospital.
Didsbury RCMP says a truck and SUV collided on Queen Elizabeth II (Highway 2) around 4:10 p.m.
Police say the truck was passing vehicles southbound on Highway 2 near Carstairs, then overtook the family’s SUV, breaking aggressively in front of them.
The SUV reportedly lost control attempting to avoid a rear-end, resulting in it rolling through the median ditch.
Police say the suspect fled the scene.
Anyone with a dash cam footage or who witnessed the incident is asked to call Didsbury RCMP at (403) 335-3382 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
