Calgary gas prices down again but Red Deer may tempt drivers: Gasbuddy.com

The average price for a litre of regular gas has continued to drop across the province this year, but Red Deer prices may tempt Calgary drivers to fill up there, according to Gasbuddy.

Prices have been steady as of Friday, with the average cost of regular gas sitting around $1.38 a litre, a 20-cent drop from last month.

Overall, prices have been dropping, and they are about 15 cents cheaper than the average national price for regular gas ($1.54 per litre).

Gas was $1.33 a litre in Calgary this time last year.

However, a Reddit post comparing the gas prices between Calgary and Red Deer has generated over 150 comments.

“Why is [it] that we are seeing gas prices in the city about 1.40, when we just visited Red Deer an hour away and prices are 1.16… ridiculous. 30 cents more than Airdrie,” the Redditor said.

Red Deer is sitting at around $1.19 on average as of Friday according to Gasbuddy, and it is also the lowest price in all of Canada.

Alberta’s average regular gas price is $1.36 a litre and is the lowest average in the country. Ontario sits at $1.47 per litre, with Toronto going above that at $1.48 per litre. British Columbia holds the highest average of all provinces in the country at $1.85 per litre.
